Spaying and Neutering

Contact Us

There are many benefits to having your pet spayed or neutered. One major reason is that it helps reduce the risk of overpopulation, which is the cause of many other problems. It can also help with their temperament and reduce certain diseases.

Why is it important to have my pet spayed or neutered?

It’s our duty as pet owners to help reduce the overpopulation problem. Shelters are overwhelmed with healthy cats and dogs. Thousands of these animals are euthanized every year, simply due to lack of space and foster families. Spaying or neutering also has a number of benefits for your pet.

Benefits:

Spaying or neutering reduces the risk of certain diseases, sometimes offering full prevention. It offers such health benefits as:

  • Reduced risk of mammary gland cancer
  • Eliminated risk of uterine infection (pyometra)
  • Reduced risk of prostatitis
  • Reduced risk of prostatic hyperplasia
  • Eliminated risk of testicular cancer

The procedure also reduces behavioural problems such as:

  • False pregnancy
  • Urine marking
  • Aggression problems
